It started as a simple event to showcase Macy's Fall Mens Collection. Soon Womens and Kids followed the suits; and then an even more important addition came in 1988…the effort of fundraising. Since then, well-known and respected designers, including Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Anna Sui and Allen Schwartz for ABS, have come together to participate in this incredibly successful event, helping to raise nearly $19 million for HIV/AIDS research, prevention, treatment and care.
Today's Passport entertains an average of 3,000 fashion enthusiasts and activists a night (three nights in San Francisco and two in Los Angeles), while bringing millions of dollars to those in need of medical assistance and research.
The most current Passport show found Macy's extending its fundraising power worldwide by teaming up with eBay. Together they created a store where people bid on one-of-a-kind items or donated money directly to the fight against HIV/AIDS. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale and the donations went directly to Macy's Passport '04s beneficiaries.
